Hi, I’m Vijay Baskar !

About me

Maybe that’s why I’m drawn to the fashion industry. It’s one of the few industries that is ever-changing. What works today might not work tomorrow. The way I see it, fashion sits in a dynamic equilibrium held together by three forces - creativity, culture, and commerce (my 3Cs!). When these forces move in sync, momentum is acquired.

Outside of university, I’m a tennis enthusiast, a sudoku solver and a crime-fiction reader. There is something about patterns, clues and slow unravelling of truth that seems to appease me. That’s kind of how I approach most things - with curiosity, patience, and the need to understand how it all fits in the matter of things.

I am a Year 3 MSc Strategic Fashion Management student at the London College of Fashion.

I’m someone who’s naturally curious about things. Whether it’s a product, a project or even a simple idea, I like understanding the process behind it - the whats, the whos, the hows and the whys.

Work experience

My experiences across the fashion landscape have been as much about learning as doing. I’ve been fortunate to have explored different sides of the fashion industry. Each space has taught me something new about how the industry functions.

What I’ve learned so far:

  • That nothing starts perfect. You learn, adjust and keep trying while keeping faith in the process.

  • That creativity thrives when there’s less to work with.

  • That the pace of retail teaches you more about people than any theory ever could.

  • That teamwork isn’t just about sharing space but it’s about listening, adapting and showing up for others.

  • That sustainability and circularity aren’t just buzzwords. Closing the loop is the way forward and requires one step at a time.
